Maurice BP-Weeks
Maurice BP-Weeks is the Co-Executive Director and Co-Founder of The Action Center on Race and the Economy. Throughout his career he has worked with community organizations, movement groups and labor unions on campaigns to create equitable communities by dismantling systems of wealth extraction that target Black and Brown people.
With over a decade of campaign and organizing experience, Maurice has led work on a wide range of issues from housing to policing to revenue and budgets, both statewide and nationally. Maurice is a proud alum of the Alliance of Californians for Community Empowerment and the Center for Popular Democracy. He currently serves on the board of Black Organizing for Leadership and Dignity, Open Secrets, Investors Advocates for Social Justice, and National Black Workers Center. Maurice leads with his values and is invested in building a robust racial and economic justice campaign infrastructure for the movement to carry us into the next generation.
Maurice received his Bachelor’s degree in Sociology from Swarthmore College in Pennsylvania, and his Master of Arts in Economics from The University of Detroit Mercy. A native of Newark, New Jersey, Maurice currently lives in Detroit, Michigan with his wife Shandra and their young child Charlie.
